INTRODUCING THE XIAOMI MI 4
Xiaomi’s Mi 4 offers almost everything you want in a high-end flagship smartphone. Beautiful design and snappy performance at a price that’s just too good to pass up. It is part of Xiaomi’s high-end smartphone line, which is making its manufacturers more popular. It was officially launched in August 2014, and an event was formally held for it to be introduced into the market during the Xiaomi New Product Launch Event 2014 which was on the 22nd July 2014.
The Xiaomi Mi 4 is a upgraded version of the Xiaomi MI 3, with a different design. It also was released just before the recently introduced MIUI 6(check out the full specs on our next post) , which was equally launched in the same month, that is August 2014. Xiaomi Mi 4’s design borrows liberally from Apple’s iPhone, but it also possesses many features that lets it stand on its own, especially its powerful hardware.
Unlike many other Xiaomi mobile phones, the Xiaomi Mi 4 is a single SIM (GSM) smartphone, which can also accept any Micro-SIM. It has some other connectivity options, such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, Infrared, USB OTG, FM and 3G network for easy access to the internet. It possesses sensors like, Compass Magnetometer, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope and Barometer.
The Xiaomi Mi 4 is a smartphone that has a 5.00-inch touchscreen display. It has a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels. It also runs Android 4.4, and powered by 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. Its measurement is 139.20 (height) x 68.50 (width) x 8.90 (thickness), with a weight of 156.00 grams.
The Xiaomi Mi 4 is powered by a high capacity non-removable battery of 3080 mAh. It carries 3 GB of RAM, and possesses 16 GB of internal storage, although it can’t be expanded further. That is to say it has no external memory space. As for the cameras, it comes with a commendable 13 megapixel primary camera on the rear, as well as a 8 megapixel front shooter, mainly for selfie lovers.

AVAILABILITY AND PRICING
The Xiaomi Mi 4 is limited to China right now, though we expect Xiaomi to soon sell the phone in other markets it currently serves, such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, India and the Philippines. Other countries will have to rely on importers. Be sure to trust us on the update once it is available in Nigeria. Also, while the phone will eventually come with 4G capability that works outside China, a revised 4G model isn’t due until the end of the year. Mind you, If you choose to import the phone before then, your Mi 4 will operate only on 3G networks.
The Xiaomi Mi 4’s is a bargain no matter how you look at it. Its unlocked price in China is 1,999RMB (which converts to $320, £190, or AU$345) for the 16GB model, and 2,499RMB (which converts to $400, £235, or AU$430) for the 64GB. While the price in India starts from Rs. 14,999. You will be duly informed once we get the price in Nigeria, but for now, since it is not yet in the country, the actual price is not given.
